J. Dow Fitness | Atlanta, GA

I found this Black-owned fitness apparel brand a few years ago at a fitness event and was initially drawn to the owner’s bright smile and infectious energy. Honestly, although I thought the collection was super cute, it took me a couple of years to pull the trigger and finally place an order because of personal insecurities I had around fitness apparel, in general. I had no idea that J. Dow Fitness would be such a game-changer for me and, now, I’m kicking myself because these pieces are some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe and I could have been enjoying them a lot longer.

J. Dow Fitness offers activewear, athleisure, and accessories that are great for any stage of your fitness journey and any point of your day. I love that most items are sold in sets so you can step out confidently and cutely without having to think about it. The activewear tops have the support you need to wear as a sports bra, the coverage you might want to cover your midsection, and are lightweight enough to pair with a jacket, if you want. Beyond that, all of the bottoms are high-waisted for more support and most have pockets! It is so refreshing to be able to slip my phone, card, and keys into my pockets and just go without having to deal with a purse or any other baggage.

Aside from great design and construction, J. Dow Fitness sets come in a variety of colors and a range of sizes. If you’re looking for something lowkey, there are plenty of nudes and muted grays to choose from. If you’re into more vibrant colors and patterns, these options are available too. I do wish that all of the sets were available in the full range of sizes—there are items available in up to 3XL—but there are good options for everyone.

A set will cost you about $70 at full price, but there are generally items on sale. You can place an order on their website—and get your items in just a few days—or make a trip to The Village Market Retail store to pick something up. And for Black History Month 2022, there’s also a special collection available at Target.

When I finally upgraded from baggy sweatpants and oversized t-shirts to cute leggings and comfy tops, J. Dow Fitness was the natural choice for me. I hope you’ll love your new favorite fitness ‘fits as much as I do.

Happy Buying!
